POSTION SUMMARY

A Part-Time Instructional Service contract teacher is a highly qualified, state certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an on-line environment. Teachers provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through K12’s learning management system, and they work actively with students and parents to advance each child’s learning.

Typically Contract Part-Time Instructional Service Teachers are responsible for:

· Spending a minimum of 75 minutes live each week (part of these hours include direct instruction)

· Completing training prior to starting

· Number of students assigned is based on enrollment needs at time of hire

As part of their regular teaching responsibilities, Contract Part-Time Instructional Service Teachers are expected to fulfill duties in the following areas:

· L e arns t h e entire K12 c u r ri c u l u m f o r a ssig n e d g ra d e l e v els and is able to demonstrate knowledge of how state standards align with it;

· Understands how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support;

· Augments course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate a s y n c h r o n ou s a n d s y n c h r o n o u s t oo ls .

· O r ien t s s t u de n ts to their co u r s e , co mm uni c ates r e qu i r e m e n t s , sets and enforces deadlines, maintains regular office hours and conducts instructional sessions;

· Takes ownership f o r s t u d en t’s a c a d e mic p r o g r es s a n d at t end a n c e, comm uni c at e s hig h e x pe c tat i o n s a n d sh ow s an a c t i ve i n t e r es t i n s t u d e n t ’ s a c hie v e m en t, establishes and maintains a positive rapport with families, conducts conferences with students and parents (or other responsible adults), provides individualized ins t r u c t i o n to h e l p e a c h s t u den ts a ch ie ve K12 c u r r i c ul ar o b j e c t i v es ;

· S u pp o rts p a r en ts w i t h s t ud e n t c u r ri c ul ar a n d i ns t r u c t i o n al i s su e s, balances the flexibility of the K12 cu r ri c ulu m w i th A c a de my p o li c i e s a n d p r oc e d u r e s

MINIMUM R E Q UIR ED QUALIFICATIONS

· Six (6) months of teaching experience AND

· Bachelor's degree (for Grades K-6); Master’s degree (for Grades 7-12) OR

· Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses : Candidates are required to have the appropriate state and subject teacher certification in the state being advertised. In addition to meeting the No Child Left Behind’s Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of teaching experience
  • Master’s degree
