Education Research Project Associate/Project Manager

Position Description

RAND Education ( researchers work in teams to identify and research policies, programs and practices that hold promise for improving education; develop new research methodologies that more effectively analyze challenging education problems; and partner with policymakers, school systems and other education stakeholders as they implement promising programs. Drawing on a deep talent pool - including education researchers, psychologists, social scientists, economists, statisticians, sociologists, and experts in organizational management - RAND Education applies interdisciplinary approaches and innovative methodologies to our work. The principal areas of focus are improving education outcomes, improving education systems and enhancing access and equity.

RAND Education seeks a highly motivated project manager and research coordinator with experience managing federal contracts to help manage our growing portfolio of contracts. Responsibilities for the position include:

- Participate on research teams by collecting and/or analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data
- Help manage research teams including budgets, timelines, deliverables
- On a regular and ongoing basis, scan appropriate information sources for funding opportunities, compile and disseminate to staff
- Serve as manager of proposal preparation and submission process, ensuring consistent presentation across proposals and that funder¿s requirements are met
- Prepare Office of Management and Budget packages for Federal Contracts
- Manage monitoring and reporting for Federal Contracts
- Develop and maintain systems for fieldwork management


- Experience with education research
- At least 5 years experience, including project management responsibilities
- Experience with managing federal contracts from IES and DoE
- Experience managing fieldwork, including randomized controlled trials, for federal evaluations
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and relationships
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills

Education Requirements

Master's degree (MPP, MPA, MEd, or other field relevant to Education work)
