Cargill Cattle Feeders has an opportunity for a
Feedlot Research Scientist
. The primary responsibility of the person in this position will be to supervise the execution of feedlot research conducted by Cargill Cattle Feeders. Focal point for research is the Cargill Beef Feedlot Research Center located at Dalhart, TX. In addition to experiments conducted at the research facility, there may be times when research trials are conducted within production feedlot facilities or with cooperating facilities.
- Assist with the development of research protocols, supervise trial execution, analyze data and prepare summaries of research results under supervision of the Cattle Feeding Specialist
Communication of required research procedures to all appropriate personnel, including all aspects from cattle procurement through slaughter
- Work with the Cattle Feeding Specialist to provide technical support to commercial feedlot production
- Provide support in the areas of nutrition, feed production, feeding and cattle management. Provide coaching to production personnel on technical issues and development of Best Practices
- Determine data analysis procedures and prepare data mining project summaries
Masters Degree in Animal Science, Nutrition related to beef production
Prior experience planning and conducting research trials, including fundamentals of experimental design and analysis
Demonstrated strong people skills
Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
Travel: 10 - 20%
PhD in a field related to beef production
Familiar with fundamentals of feedlot cattle management practice
