position is located at Shindand Air Base in Afghanistan. Due to
success and program growth we are in need of an additional instructor
starting this new semester.
Each semester is 5 months long.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Rotary Wing Instructor
Pilots who are qualified in the MD530F and have experience
providing instruction in primary flight training, basic flight
maneuvers and initial aircraft qualification. Selected
personnel will perform as part of a team rotary wing academic
and flight instructors at Shindand Airbase in Afghanistan and will
directly support the daily execution and success of the Afghan
Air Force (AAAF) Rotary Wing Flight Training School
(FTS). This position is a one-year


A team of instructors will provide all
aspects of Initial Entry Rotary Wing (IERW) flight training to
Afghan Air Force (AAF) personnel using US provided and
maintained MD-530F aircraft.

Training will be
modeled after the US Army IERW training. Students
will train to International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) instrument flight rules (IFR) and visual flight rules (VFR)
day/night standards as part of their preparation for follow-on
RW aircraft qualification programs. Services include ground,
simulated flight & flight training. The AAF RW FTS will
produce military-certified RW Pilots and Instructor Pilots that are
safe, proficient and capable in standard RW flight planning, flight
maneuvers, navigation procedures, and emergency
procedures. The instructor team will develop and
execute all processes, procedures, scheduling, policies,
instruction and syllabi required for basic RW flight and ground
training (including simulation). Additionally, the team will
develop a training program to develop AAF RW instructors that will
replace the need for contractor support, thus leaving the Government
of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) an indigenous and
enduring RW pilot qualification capability.


Type rating in the MD500/520/530 Series
aircraft (or military version MH-6/AH-6), OH-58 Kiowa Warrior, or Bell 406/407 with 100 hours minimum in
aircraft series/type is required for consideration.

Valid and current
FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with rotorcraft and instrument
ratings in the applicable aircraft class.
Must hold a valid FAA
Minimum of 1,500 rotorcraft flight hours including
500 as an instructor.
Must have
satisfactorily completed a U.S. Army Instructor Pilot
Course or equivalent with 3 + years of relevant experience.
Must hold a valid and current FAA or military equivalent Class II
Medical Certificate as prescribed by the Government.
satisfactorily complete appropriate evaluations and check rides
administered by US Army flight standards and evaluations
Experience training students in terrain flight
navigation, tactical flight maneuvers and Nap of the Earth (NOE)
Experience training students in basic instruments and
navigation utilizing GPS systems.
Must be NVG qualified.
Must be deployable according to IAW CENTCOM and US Army Deployment
Meet US Army height and weight standards as detailed
in Army Regulation 600-9
Be able to pass a standard US Army
Physical Fitness Test In accordance with Army Field Manual 21-20
Current Physical (within 12 months of deployment).
Must have
been tested and present proof of a negative HIV test result performed
within six months of deployment
All immunizations required for
US personnel deploying must be complete and current or able to
complete prior to deployment
Valid US Passport
Eligible for
reinstatement of security clearance at SECRET level


Previous relevant experience supporting the conduct
of flight operations and training in a deployed environment.
Previous relevant experience as an advisor, mentor, or instructor
to foreign military personnel.
Previous experience
conducting flight operations and/or training in desert
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to synthesize complex or diverse
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical
procedures or government regulations.
Ability to identify and
comprehensively resolve problems in timely manner.
to assess program conditions and take appropriate actions
to maintain program momentum through insightful critical thinking and
problem solving.
Prior experience working in Afghanistan is
highly desired.
