The Systems Engineer is responsible for research, development, testing, implementation, change management and documentation of global IT infrastructure systems, and training of global operations team members and peers relating to global IT infrastructure systems. The Systems Engineer is an enthusiastic owner of complex IT systems related issues/initiatives which may take days, weeks or months to resolve/implement. This individual consistently brings their creative problem-solving approach to bear in identifying the source of, and resolution to issues and possesses an overwhelming drive for results. They are highly adept at keeping stakeholders and business partners aware of progress with regular, clear and concise communication.

Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with internal customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies for needed services or service improvements Conduct research and prepare questions in advance of meetings with stakeholders/business/customers Proactively identifies, evaluates and proposes new information technology systems to support both existing and planned organizational objectives, processes and decision making Proactively proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that improve the performance and reliability of systems Perform advanced troubleshooting of IT systems and ensure timely resolution of issues and restoration of IT systems services Use facts and analysis to support recommendations and proposed solutions [not hunches Identify interdependencies between ongoing or upcoming IT related projects & initiatives across the organization Actively and continuously mitigates IT and project risk and develops contingencies. Communicates status to stakeholders early and often Take projects from original concept through final implementation Ensures adherence to quality standards Required Skills: Expert level knowledge of and experience with Oracle and related technologies and services Expert knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, and JVM management Expert level knowledge of and experience with systems performance monitoring and performance tuning. Advanced level knowledge of and experience with Oracle Enterprise grid control Expert level knowledge of and experience with disaster recovery design and management Working knowledge of LDAP account management Familiarity with SAN technology and enterprise level backup software. Desire and demonstrated ability to continually expand knowledge (both hard and soft-skills) The ability and desire to train and mentor other team members Extremely well developed and demonstrable organizational skills Strong ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize (and reprioritize) tasks/projects in order to maintain required productivity levels Significant experience managing medium to large project efforts using standard project management methodologies and tools Proven ability to create clear concise technical documentation Willingness to participate in an on-call schedule Preferred Skills: Experience performing Oracle application upgrades Experience with Oracle migration enabling tools, specifically GoldenGate.
