The Legal & Compliance Technology (LCT) organization supports regulatory and compliance requirements of the Legal & Compliance line of business with applications that monitor and report on suspected anti-money laundering activities along with screening activities of individuals and companies. Also supported are applications that manage litigation and other legal activities including the management of spend with external law firms. The LCT application portfolio is experiencing significant growth as existing applications are being expanded to include global capabilities. LCT is responsible for partnering with our clients on evolving business capabilities, improving end user experience with our solutions and services, and ensuring that we continue to provide continuous improvement on the systems that are relied upon across the firm. The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Technology team within LCT provides technology solutions to protect the firm builds solutions to identify and escalate suspect activity. We are seeking a strong Business Data Analyst who wants to join a fast-paced, high-energy team.

Partner closely with the business to analyze data across multiple platforms to create a single data warehouse for AML data

Communicate data model design to cross functional groups and senior subject matter experts

Translate business requirements to conceptual data model specifications, data flow diagrams and E-R diagrams

Work closely with data modelers to develop the logical data model

Maintain alignment of the model with the enterprise model to support the single consolidated customer view

Develop and document extensions to the model and obtain sign-off from the Data Architecture Review Board

Identify all non-functional requirements such as security, capacity, and availability

Ensure that the data dictionary is actively maintained

Define and document the reporting functional specifications


5-7 years of hands-on data analysis experience with gathering and owning business requirements, performing data analysis and leading modeling sessions

Demonstrated skills with conceptual analysis, problem solving, and data design

Substantial experience in performing data modeling studies and developing conceptual and logical data models

Translating business requirements into conceptual and logical models

Must be able to recognize and identify patterns in data relationships from disparate systems.

Strong experience in transforming business requirements into conceptual and logical models.

Previous experience of working with object oriented analysis and design.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Good background working with complex data schemas.

Excellent visual information design skills (eg Instance Diagrams & data-oriented usecases

Plan, deploy, monitor and take action to resolve data quality issues

Institute control processes to ensure conformance with defined data quality rules

Plan and design structured data assets in accordance with business requirements

Control and review data development activities

Review data security, auditing, data quality and testing of business assets

Define domain values including terms, codes and business definitions for each value

Understand conceptual domains by subject area

Ensure the language of the data is consistent across the enterprise

Define the processes that ensure proper creation, storage, integration, and control of metadata

Maintain information about transactions, events, objects and their inter-relationships

Take a current and historical look at business

Collect, cleanse, transform and store data

Demonstrated expertise defining, designing, and implementing logical and physical data models

Proficient with the following:
ETL tools and the ability to architect an ETL solution


Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), software development methodologies, and best practices

Experience with the following:
Designing and implementing reporting data sources and complex reports

Designing and developing data cleansing routines utilizing typical data quality functions involving standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking and matching

Creating processes for defining and documenting data standards and metadata models

Designing and implementing data quality and data auditing processes

Identifying opportunities to optimize performance of existing data structures

Providing expertise in data discovery and profiling

Knowledge of data, master data, and metadata related standards, processes, and technology

Demonstrated expertise building an integrated metadata environment consisting of both operational and business metadata and ensuring the quality and integrity of the data

Ability to work independently, along with the ability to manage small engagements or parts of large engagements

Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)

Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment

Proven ability to work effectively with both business users and technical stakeholders

Preferred Skills:
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Good background working in complex data schemas

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent visual information skills (e.g. Instance diagrams, data-oriented use cases)

Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in quantitative field or equivalent demonstrated experience

Familiarity with BI reporting and analytical tools such as Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, SAS.
