DRS Power & Control Technologies, Inc., is a leading supplier of high-performance power conversion and instrumentation & control systems for the U.S. Navy’s combatant fleet. Products include ship electric propulsion equipment, power electronics equipment, high-performance networks, shipboard control equipment and control panels, tactical displays and specialty reactor plant instrumentation and control equipment. The Division designs, qualifies and manufactures products that help people every day on the ground, sea and in the air. We operate on a 9/80 work schedule, all employees work 80 hrs in 9 days and have every other Friday off.
Job Location Bath, Maine
Upper-level technical position that requires advanced mechanical and electrical skills and proven customer service skills. Service work may include, but is not limited to, performing independent maintenance, repairs, modification, equipment setup and testing, and formal/informal training of customer personnel in remote setting with little or no direct supervision. This position requires permanent location at customer’s build site and frequent travel to production test facility engineering/production testing.
Duties and Responsibilities
Possess excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work variable shifts and up to 12 hour shifts to perform necessary testing.
Exhibit mature, independent judgment and communicate effectively.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues by utilizing drawings and technical documentation.
Conduct repairs and/or modifications using a variety of hand tools, computer aided interfaces, and test equipment.
Assist in demonstrating setup and adjustment of complex equipment for potential users or operators.
Train or assist other employees as required.
Supervise small technical teams.
Perform majority of duties independent of direct supervision.
Basic Qualifications .
High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years experience, Associates in Engineering/Technical discipline degree with 5+ yrs work experience or equivalent experience of direct relevance to duties and responsibilities on US Navy vessels with 6+ yrs, required.
Methodical documentation skills with the ability to provide accurate, complete and timely technical service reports.
Proficient in the use of a laptop computer and related software.
Must be able and willing to relocate and travel
Must have or be eligible to obtain US Passport
United States Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance, required
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge
Physical Requirements (Lifting, Walking, Bending, Stooping kneeling etc)
- Software skills with C, C++, Java and Visual Basic, a plus
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
- Excellent teambuilding and leadership skills.
- Work history of proven technical skills.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office application experience, including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint; detailed understanding and use of database technologies helpful.
Frequent lifting, stooping, bending, kneeling. Most work performed in a naval ship yard and construction environment. Travel required up to 60% of the time.
