PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To design, develop and implement into production connectors that meet customer expectations. This applies to new products as well as modifications and extensions to existing products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

With some guidance from project engineers and engineering managers, develops new connector designs handling all phases required to bring connector concepts into production as defined in the Product Development Process (PDP).

Verifies product design. Produces and checks manufacturing drawings for completeness and accuracy.

Performs engineering tests and submits product for screen and qualification testing in the reliability lab.

Supplies tooling groups with necessary drawings for quoting and tool build. Assists and supports manufacturing in the debug process.

Prepares and follows engineering change requests (E-SAP) per document control procedures.

Interfaces with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, lab, sales and marketing) to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner and assists by providing product information, engineering samples and technical advice. Also interfaces with suppliers and customers.

Understand, support, and contribute to Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Quality (TS16949), and Environmental Management (ISO14000) Systems by following approved policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as required by management.
Job Requirements :
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE: Required: Two (2) or more years previous design experience. Knowledge of drafting standards and design layout.
Preferred : Three (3) or more years previous experience in connector design. Design experience in some of the following areas: molding, plating, stamping and assembly. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC). Experience with finite element modeling and solid modeling.
SKILLS: Required: Understanding of engineering analyses such as stress, strain and tolerances.
Knowledgeable regarding customer specifications & requirements. Strong computer skills; experience with spreadsheets, presentation and word-processing software. CAD knowledge (2D or 3D – Pro E, Catia, Unigraphics). Problem solving skills using systematic tools (8D, fishbone, cause/effect diagrams).
Preferred: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to others.
OTHER: Required: Some travel, as necessary; may be required.
