Job Title: Senior Database Administrator (DBA SQL) Job Type: Full-time permanent. The company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator to be responsible for the integrity, security, and performance of the production databases that power its software products and websites.
This is a key technical role within the IT area reporting to the Executive Director of Ecommerce and IT that works closely with Product Engineering, Web Development, and other senior IT staff to plan, deploy and maintain databases. The right candidate will be passionate about evolving technology, knowledgeable of industry best practices and motivated to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Friendly and collaborative technical environment. Responsibilities: Learn and document the existing logical design and data models. Establish performance metrics and proactive alerts. Review and consolidate maintenance plans.
Troubleshoot and resolve reliability risks and performance issues quickly and as-needed. Work with senior IT Admin and Webdev resources to ensure production database uptime. Script and monitor synchronization between clusters. Consolidate security access, compliant with PCI standards and SQL security best practices.
Work with the BI team to identify and consolidate operational metrics and reporting on SSRS. Review and improve established failover and business data continuity plans. Requirements: 0 years MS SQL experience, 5 years as senior DBA. Intimately familiar with MS SQL Server 2005 and 2008.
Expertise with the SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS). Hardware spec and capacity planning experience On-call around the clock. Beneficial experience and skills: Database admin within the context of high-traffic IIS-driven websites. Visual Studio and/or webdev skills with ability to work closely with IIS developers in data model design review.
MySQL experience. Microsoft server OS expertise, tuning for SQL Server. PCI compliance familiarity. BI reporting suites, such as Pentaho.
