The successful candidate will teach engineering science courses in
the MS and BS programs, supervise students' theses and projects,
participate in the development and maintenance of the laboratories,
and engage in research and other scholarly activities such as
obtaining external funding for research and development. The
selected candidate will be expected to engage with local industries
to develop joint activities for the benefit of the students and the
department which may include the opportunity to teach and/or do
research during the summer months.
In addition to teaching and scholarship, all faculty are expected
to engage in academic advising, assist the department with program
assessment, participate in administrative and/or committee work,
and serve on campus-wide committees.
To be recommended for appointment, the candidates must have a Ph.D.
in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Candidates
near completion of their doctoral degree (ABD) will be considered
but doctoral degree must be completed by start of Fall 2011.
The candidates are expected to have specialization in the field of
communications, electronics, networking or signal processing with
significant interest in several other areas such as computer
systems, bioengineering and/or optical engineering.
Student-centered research and scholarly activities are expected of
all candidates. A strong theoretical foundation with practical
hands-on design experience is highly desirable. A key requirement
will be the potential for becoming an excellent teacher and
researcher as well as attracting external funding to build a
research program in one's field of interest.
Preference will be given to the candidates having previous teaching
experience at the undergraduate level and/or significant experience
in the effective use of academic technology and distance learning
program delivery.
