The Business Development Manager for Pump & Generator Sales is responsible for managing Pump and Power specific sales activities by assigned geography, by performing direct sales, supporting indirect sales by HERC general sales force, ensuring rental and sales revenues, profit growth, pricing strategies, applications and engineering activities as it relates specifically to the growth of HERC’s strategic initiative, Hertz Energy Services, Hertz Service Pump and Compressor and the Portable Pump & Power Market segment.

The key responsibilities and accountabilities for the incumbent are to:
  • Grow and Drive Portable Pump & Power revenues within an assigned geography
  • Coordinate Pump & Power Sales and marketing activities
  • Coordinate Pump & Power Training and Strategies
Key Results Areas
  • Communicate with Region, Branch, and Sales Staff to insure strategic Portable Pump & Power objectives are met
  • Direct Sales of Portable Pump & Power Products and Services
  • Assist HERC Sales Force with sales support in Portable Pump & Power Market
  • Assist region in ensuring market growth and business plan objectives are met
  • Analyze market data and opportunities to insure proper sales coverage of the Portable Pump & Power market
  • Communicate and lead all Portable Pump & Power sales training efforts in accordance with company policy
  • Coordinate marketing and advertising efforts with HERC Marketing for local market awareness of Portable Pump & Power products and services
  • Collaborate with HERC, National Accounts, Plant Services and Service Pump and Compressor, and Hertz Energy Services
  • Direct and participate in all customer appreciation programs
  • Gain a personal relationship with geographies top 20 accounts
  • Assist with the hiring, management, development, and promotion of Pump & Power specific personnel
  • Work with Division Manager, HES and GM Service Pump to ensure corporate strategies are followed
  • Gain personal awareness of the top 10 Pump & Power projects and opportunities within the geography
  • Assist Division and Region with product specific fleet management
  • Delivery Sales presentations to top Portable Pump & Power specific accounts
  • Meet with top customers assisting sales representatives, branches with maintaining relationships, negotiating and closing Portable Pump & Power deals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of competitive companies
  • Assist in Pump & Power specific product pricing on bids, rentals and projects, and assist in all product specific pricing strategies
  • Assist in collections and accounts receivables as required
  • Assist to insure accurate billing and rate structures of Portable Pump & Power Contracts and projects
  • Monitor and assist in the execution of used equipment sales on Portable Pump & Power products and services

Mandatory Requirements:

Educational Background
  • University degree from an accredited four year collegiate institution. Alternatively, an associates degree or vocational certificate with extensive knowledge of the portable power industry, applications, and equipment rental industry

Professional Background
  • Proven track record (8 to 10 years) in the equipment sales and or rental industry, and or portable pump & power industry
  • Directly involved in sales, sales management to include sales leadership, territory development and subordinate coaching and mentoring in the portable pump & power markets

  • Strong comprehension of the portable pump & power market, the equipment rental industry and the economic drivers that impact performance and drive utilization
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Portable pump & power application and technical knowledge
