This position is responsible for all aspects of demand forecasting for a portfolio of in-line and new Brand and/or Generic products. This includes, but is not limited to, the co-chairing of the monthly Demand Management Consensus Process, developing analytical reports to track performance, fostering cross-functional discussion to improve the quality of inputs for the forecast and leveraging the company forecast software system to generate more accurate and actionable forecasts.
Specific responsibilities include:
Utilizes the corporate forecasting system and sales database to analyze factory sales trends and applies appropriate forecasting models to develop both short (12 month) and long term forecasts. Makes recommendations to Brand and Generic Marketing Management on future sales levels.
Acts as liaison between Operations, Marketing and Finance on forecasting/demand management issues.
Co-chairs monthly Demand Management consensus meetings. Generates and analyzes reports and agendas for use during this meeting.
Develops and maintains documentation of assumptions driving the forecasted volumes, such as new and lost business, market growth and share, major competitors, etc.
Develops, analyzes and presents to consensus team analytical reports to track performance to forecast.
Actively participates in Monthly Supply Planning meetings to determine gaps between Demand Plan and Supply Plan.
Supports the Sales & Operations Planning process, including demand analyses, report generation, etc. Acts as back-up to Manager as needed.
Strong Excel skills are required, including the ability to work with macros, formulations and pivot tables.
A working knowledge of statistics and it’s use in Excel is required.
A working knowledge of Word and Power Point is also required.
Experience with JDE, SAP and/or major forecasting applications such as Manugistics, Logility, etc. is a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical industry environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong forecasting skills and the ability to work as a team are essential in this role.
