Provide all advising services related to undecided students and pre-professional students in the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center. Activities include maintaining thorough familiarity with programs, advising prospective, transfer, returning and current students on course and program selection in person, by e-mail, by mail, and by phone. Advise and assist students on academic probation. Act as a liaison between students, departments, and professional schools. Utilize various student information systems to assess student progress and record contacts in digital file system. Collaborate with Explore Center team and other campus offices to engage in best practices programming to aid student retention efforts. Assist the Assistant Director with the smooth operation of the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center.
Bachelor's degree plus three years of relevant experience in higher education required. Evidence of 1:1 student interaction/advising necessary. Must have demonstrated organizational, time management, and writing skills. Experience must demonstrate an ability to learn extensive requirements, policies, and procedures.
Master's degree in counseling or a related field preferred. Public speaking skills preferred. Background in liberal arts and sciences helpful.
