In January 2012, Chartis and SunAmerica Financial Group formed a significant new player in the benefits market by combining American General Life Companies’ Benefit Solutions division with the Medical Excess and @Work groups from Chartis Corporate Benefits division. The combined entity targets the employee and affinity group markets, and serves as a one-stop solution for today’s changing benefits marketplace for groups of all sizes. The product suite includes life/AD&D, BTA/accident, universal and term life, dental, vision, limited healthcare, medical reimbursement, stop-loss, organ transplant, group hospital, group and personal disability, critical illness, accident and cancer insurance. This broad and diverse portfolio provides limitless opportunities to create flexible benefit offerings suitable for all sizes and budgets, and the combined underwriting, distribution and sales strengths of American General and Chartis will provide further strength and differentiation in the marketplace.
In order to optimize those strengths, the organization needs processes, communication and internal services that meet and/or exceed the expectations of today’s market and those of markets we endeavor to serve. One of the needs identified through this merger is the need for a new Admin platform. This position is a result of that need.
Reporting to the Director of Business Systems Support the Instructional Designer/Trainer will work with subject matter experts to design and develop training solutions that are aligned with AIG Benefit Solutions business goals.
Immediate Performance Objectives:
•Working with subject matter experts to develop training strategies, storyboards, and develop technology-based training solutions.
•Provide guidance and leadership in the development evaluation of instructor-led, performance-simulated, and technology-based training solutions across AIG Benefit Solutions
•Conduct needs assessment, job and performance analysis, analyze training gaps, and design training solutions that will improve employee performance.
•Partner with subject matter experts to develop and maintain training materials (reference guides, facilitator guides, etc.) that integrate adult learning theory. Use solid instructional design and competency-based evaluation methodologies.
•Design, develop and integrate training through a variety of media including instructor-led training, eLearning platforms, knowledge management systems, online performance support tools and learning management systems.
•Collaborate with other training team members to establish best practices, templates, design documents, storyboards and internal processes.
•Research advances in course development technologies and keep abreast of learning platforms and delivery options.
•Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
•College degree plus 3-5 years combined insurance and business experience
•Knowledge of Employer Benefits Group Insurance concepts desirable.
•Excellent written and oral communications skills. The ability to communicate at multiple levels and with people in varied job categories across organizational boundaries.
•Solid understanding and demonstration of instructional design including needs, task and performance analysis, assessment and instructional strategies.
•Proven problem solving. The ability to look carefully at all aspects of a situation to identify and develop the most effective and efficient solution.
•Applied experience developing technology-based learning solutions. Expertise developing SCORM compliant courses, incorporating interactive activities, measurements, and various multimedia elements.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
•Demonstrate experience in graphic design tools, web-based course development technologies and multimedia, such as Photoshop, Flash, Lectora, and HTML, Adobe Connect and Captivate and Learning Management Systems.
•Familiarity with web-based conferencing systems and collaborative groupware.
•Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative team environment.
•Excellent project management organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
