Health Services Administration: The Position: The Department of
Public Health and Health Sciences, School of Health Professions and
Studies (SHPS), seeks candidates for a new tenure-track faculty
position in our growing department. The University's mission is
built upon three pillars: excellence in teaching, learning and
scholarship; student centeredness; and engaged citizenship.
Consistent with our mission, the ideal candidate will be a
teacher-scholar who can integrate these 3 pillars in a seamless
synergistic manner to provide the best learning opportunities for
our students while working to improve the communities we serve. We
are seeking candidates who have demonstrated potential for
significant scholarship and obtaining external funding. The
successful applicant will teach both on-campus and on-line in the
Health Administration tracks of our MPH, MPA and MBA programs, and
in our AUPHA certified undergraduate program. Those with an
interest in a future leadership role within our department are

Department faculty are engaged in research in health services,
health disparities, health promotion (HIV/AIDS, diabetes, mental
illness), disability and aging, and cultural competence. The School
of Health Professions and Studies has an Urban Health and Wellness
Center (UHWC) which provides primary care and physical therapy
services offering scholarship/service opportunities in
collaboration with existing community health care
institutions/agencies. The Environment: The campus sits on a
beautiful 75 acre riverfront situated in downtown Flint, Genesee
County Michigan. The Department is one of three growing academic
departments in the School of Health Professions and Studies
creating opportunities for academic leadership. The Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Health Administration, Health Management, Public
Health or a related area; Academic background/expertise in one or
more of the following: health care management, ambulatory care,
long-term care, health care financing, health care
operations/quality management, health information
systems/informatics, health services marketing, managed care,
health insurance, and human resources; work experience in an
administrative role highly desired; evidence of strong potential
for scholarly growth and for acquiring external funding; successful
college/university teaching experience preferred; experience in or
strong interest to teach on-line; strong commitment to working with
students in advising, mentoring and career development; commitment
to participate in regional, national health
administration/management professional organizations; commitment to
participate in program development and leadership activities;
commitment to engage in service activities, community outreach and
