BingEdge PM Lead
Since Bing launched in June of 2009, the search world has changed for the better. We’re helping people break free from search overload and enabling them to make decisions with Bing’s powerful, friendly tools. We’re attracting new users and changing how people think about Microsoft and Search. We have a long road ahead and we need your help! Key to our continued success in this hypercompetitive space is taking enormous volumes of data and turning them into useful, actionable information to drive increased user engagement through great Bing features and improvements. We’re talking petabytes of data about how searches succeed, how they fail, and how we can improve Bing and our partner properties like maps, commerce, travel, and more.
Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your skills at defining software and infrastructure for online services? The BingEdge team is looking for a strongly technical Program Manager to join our growing team.
BingEdge is a global network of satellite locations that terminate the client TCP connection and accelerate the delivery of the Bing query result. The goal is to have 100s of locations in the next 2 years. As MS redefines itself as devices and services company, all online services have an increasingly critical reliance on a performant and highly available client connection to Microsoft.
You will work to define the process for individual ISPs to request a “Microsoft Caching Node” and drive the building of a team to create the incoming pipeline of requests. You will also drive the creation of and cooperation between a dedicated support team in GFS and a dev team in Bing building operation tools and dashboards to enable us to run a distributed network of 100s of edges. You will also partner across the company to create views on the monitoring data that have overall MS value and impact.
The ability to identify the minimal set of requirements that satisfies the widest audience will be critical to your success, with a plan to add features over time.
The basic requirements include solid technical and spec writing skills and a passion for simplicity in design to drive scalability.
Prior experience with performance measurement and reporting systems and strong data analysis skills would be preferable. Expertise in Gomez and Keynote tools, 2+ years experience operating online service, business experience with creating and growing external partnerships and contract negotiation. Experience with Supply chain planning and management also a plus.
