Provide Linux/UNIX systems administration as part of a team supporting 150+ Linux and Solaris systems in the IT infrastructure.

Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):

1. Install, configure, maintain and administer Linux / UNIX operating systems and components. Install and maintain various software products. (40%)

2. Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware problems, interface with vendor technical support to resolve problems and work with other technical staff on supporting their needs. (30%)

3. Configure and maintain system monitoring tools, monitor and test system performance and provide statistics and reports on a regular basis. (20%)

4. Participate in team activities as a member of the Linux / UNIX System Administration Team. (10%)

Required Qualifications:
B.S. or equivalent years of IT related professional work


1 year experience with:
Red Hat Linux family (Ret Hat Enterprise Server, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Fedora)

Linux scripting

Written communications skills that will be used to document analysis.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Initiative and ability in acquisition of new technical skills.

Ability to resolve problems with general direction.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with:
Solaris 10

Red Hat Satellite Server

GForge code management system

Virtualization (VMware, Xen)


Hardening Linux OS

Special Working Conditions:
Occassional Saturday morning hours required. Participate in a bi-weekly after hours on-call rotation every six weeks.
