Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
The Senior Team Leader is responsible for the coordination of the entire sterilization process to ensure quality processing as defined by procedure. This individual is the central point of contact and interfaces with all sterilization job functions. The Sterilization Senior Team Leader also coordinates and leads the daily activities of hourly and weekly workforce in sterilization facilities. This individual ensures adherence to all Plant and Division SOPs, DOPs, QSR Guidelines, ISO standards and FDA requirements. The Senior Team Leader supports the Associate Operations Manager with development and administration of department budget(s). This individual promotes a work environment that provides open communication and adherence to the Bard values of quality, integrity and service.

Essential Job Functions:
Coordinates the operation of sterilization process and ancillary equipment.
Prepares work schedules, expedites workflow and assists in the daily set-up of various operational activities. Delegates duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardizes procedure to improve efficiency.
Documents all steps in the sterilization process in accordance with established procedures.
Operates material handling equipment.
Must be able to perform all functions as defined in the Warehouse Spore Placer Job Description. Additionally, in absence of QA technician is trained to perform post sterile inspection.
Initiates maintenance work orders, when applicable. Maintains plant facilities and equipment through “user level” preventative maintenance as defined by procedure(s).
Participates in safety team, audit activities and operational process improvements.
Perform chemical receipt into Sterilization. Monitor chemical inventory of nitrogen and ethylene oxide. Connection / disconnection of hazardous chemicals to process equipment (i.e. ethylene oxide).
Responsible for compiling and submitting daily, weekly, and monthly departmental reports, such as WIP inventory, Trailer Yard Checks, and a variety of reports designed to measure performance of the Operation.
10. Responsible for completing JD Edwards Warehouse Management System moves.
11. Identifies and maintains items needed to support sterilization and is responsible for submitting these requests to management.
12. Participate actively in all Lean Thinking initiatives.
13. Ensure proper training of employees and conformance to all SOPs and DOPs.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
  • Working knowledge of quality programs.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and workflow. Planning will take into account assets (time, equipment, and product) available.
  • Knowledge of personal computers.
  • Able to apply policies and procedures to work situations and use judgment in selecting appropriate actions.
  • Ability to exercise tact, maturity and judgment when dealing with employees and visitors.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree required - Science degree preferred. Equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
Minimum seven (7) years working in a GMP compliant medical device processing operation
EO Experience or Sterilization related field preferred.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Employee is required to meet with other personnel in other areas of building. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must not have any facial hair that interferes with a protective MSA mask. Must be free of any health condition that would prohibit assignments to an ethylene oxide related area
