Reporting to the Director of Communications, serve as the webmaster for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute. Create innovative web-based applications that support the institution’s internal and external communication initiatives; develop, maintain, and keep the technology current for the primary website; develop microsites; consult on the development of laboratory and center websites; produce html e-newsletters; create an intranet. Duties include site design, usability review, standards compliance, data publication, and update management. Responsibilities include the creation, maintenance, and support of web applications and data presentation tools to include support, testing, and fixes. The incumbent will also be responsible for the timely publication and maintenance of statistical and other data through both static and dynamic web delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field and/or the equivalent level of training and experience. Experience with web design, CMS -driven websites, PHP , Python, HTML , CSS , Javascript, SQL , and MVC / MVT software architecture. Demonstrated experience in the creation and maintenance of database-driven websites; demonstrated communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given for experience with end user support, SCT Banner, data warehousing, Rhythmyx, Java, and data visualization. Experience working in a university and/or research organization is a plus. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign preferred.
