SQL Data Analyst/Statistical Analyst

Participates as a team member and supports the executive team by providing analytical support through research, collection, evaluation and management of data.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop strong understanding of the data that drives the business and work with management to identify and measure opportunities for improvement.
Operate as the database/application/reporting developer to implement reporting and analytic solutions.
Provide actionable support to address and enhance business objectives. Define analysis objectives and plans, execute analysis plans, create new report queries as requested and summarize and provide recommendations.
Lead various aspects of the analytical process including data mining, data modeling, and ultimately, solving critical business problems by utilizing all applicable quantitative knowledge and statistical techniques.
Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of econometric data, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives and their numerical parameters.
Define data requirements, gather and validate information, applying judgment and statistical tests.
Analyze data analysis requests obtained from management to determine operational problems and define data modeling requirements, validation of content and problem solving parameters.
Develop data structures and reporting to support the generation of business insights and strategy.
Identify opportunities to use data to develop new strategies and improve business performance
Utilize programming and analytical tools including SQL to formulate mathematical or simulation models.
Investigate and resolve data issues across platforms and applications, including discrepancies of definition, format and function.

Required Skills and Experience:
Experience with SQL Querying, Data manipulation and data mining along with a deep understanding of statistics and modeling methodologies
Ability to execute tactically while understanding strategy impacts
Strong analytics skills with extensive experience in data modeling.
Must have experience in relational data, data normalization, SQL, database concepts, and structured programming techniques
Experience working with web analytic tools (e.g. Webtrends, Google Analytics, etc.)
Preferred skills: Proficient in web programming, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, KML, AJAX, and Silverlight development

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, IT or a related quantitative analytical field.
Through understanding of basic statistical methods, in order to explain findings to a broader audience
Experience in SQL programming or relational database tools
Experience in multivariate analysis, decision tree and non-parametric methods
Minimum three (3) years of related work experience
Financial industry preferred
