DUTIES: Back to top · The primary purpose of this position is to protect the command from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information considered vital to command mission interests, national defense or national security and implement, and develop, implement, and administer the Personnel Security Program for an Air Force Wing.
· Executes and enforces all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the personnel security program to include the establishment and maintenance of Security Information Files (SIFs).
· Develops and directs security guidance, training, and direction to a civilian and military work force at wing organizations.
· Makes information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that may require deviations from or synthesis of policies.
· Implements and administers Wing Personnel Security investigations/adjudication systems for case management.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) or equivalent. Example of s pecialized experience must include a wide range of security concepts, principles, and pratices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply piolicy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.

Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-11 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Expert knowledge of personnel security to plan and implement security programs in this area.

2. Knowledge of information and industrial security concepts, principles, and practices to collaborate with those specialists and produce converged policies and recommendations.

3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security programs.

4. Knowledge in analytical theories, processes, program and practices to accomplish broad studies and make well-supported recommendations.

5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

1. The employee is required to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance.

2. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.

3. This position is designated emergency essential, and employee must sign DED Form 2365 accepting conditions of employment related to that designation per DODD 1404.10.

4. This position is a designated national security position.

5. This position is indexed as requiring a Tier 1, Security Fundamentals, DoD Certification. Employee must obtain the required certification within one year of entering on duty in this position or obtain an approved time waiver.

6. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and or holidays and or overtime.

7. Information Assurance Certification is a CONDITION OF EMPLOYEMENT. This position includes Information Assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.

8. This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Test Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
