About the Position
Under general supervision, transcribes a variety of medical reports, notes and other data from recorded dictation.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:
Transcribes recorded material, including operative reports, discharge summaries, patient history and examinations.
Prioritizes current dictations by chronology or urgency. Logs dictation to avoid lost or missing reports.
Verifies accuracy of patient information such as name, hospital number, location in hospital and patient file location.
Makes entries on prescribed control forms as needed, indicating report that was transcribed, dates dictation was received and transcribed, and name of dictator.
Maintains a production report detailing numbers and variety of reports completed per day, as well as line count for each day.
Dispatches finished reports to designated persons for approval and signature.
Duplicates documents and forms as directed and mails to outside individuals and agencies.
