Job Description:
The Plant Manager oversees the facility's daily
operations to maximize all available resources. Plans
and coordinates the operational activities with input
and interaction from a variety of sources. Identifies
opportunities for continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities and tasks:Operations (40%):
  • Communicates with the Superintendents on operational
issues, makes decisions regarding production, and
oversees all production.
  • Evaluates work processes and systems for
efficiencies and operational flow.
  • Ensures USDA and OSHA regulations are followed.
Supervisory Responsibilities (30%):
  • Manages superintendents who supervise all
Supervisors in the production area of the plant.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination
and evaluation of the plant.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws.
  • Interviewing, providing input regarding hiring and
the training of employees; planning, assigning and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding
and disciplining employees; addressing complaints
and resolving problems.

Training and Development (20%):
  • Develops the skill and education level of
Managers/Supervisors/Group leaders. Facilitates
training and development sessions and exercises as
  • Guides Managers/Supervisors/Group leaders in process
control, personnel practicies, efficient operations,
safety, employee development, and employee retention
  • Evaluates performance levels and provides
constructive feedback and assistance for
  • Process improvement.
  • Facilitates and promotes the development of new work
systems for the facility.
  • Responsible for operation layouts and automation
improvements, budgeting and cost improvements.

Process Improvement (10%):
  • Facilitates and promotes the development of new work

Job Requirements:Education/Experience:
  • 10-15 years of manufacturing experience including
5-10 years of management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree highly desired.
  • Meat manufacturing experience preferred, previous
food manufacturing experience required.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • Must have the ability to evaluate performance and
provide constructive feedback and assistance for
  • Solid computer skills (especially in Microsoft
Office, SAP experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of safety practices and principles related
to manufacturing activities.
  • Knowledge of budget development and administration.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence,
and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers,
clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Possess the necessary communication and
interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate
effective meetings and education sessions.

Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as
discounts, interest proportions, percentages, and

geometry as necessary.

Physical Demands:
  • Work may involve lifting of materials and product up
to 30 pounds.

Work Environment:
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing
environment. Working in this environment requires
the use of safety equipment to include but not
limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors,
work boots, and hard hats.
  • Must be willing to work any shift, extended hours
and weekends.
