Job Description

The Research Director (“RD”) will manage the creation, updating and distribution of all proprietary research conducted by the JBG Investments Group for the office, hotel, retail and residential markets in the Washington Metro Area. In addition, the RD will gather, distill and disseminate weekly, monthly and quarterly “flash” market updates containing transaction comparables and econometric data to various groups throughout the firm. This will include maintaining databases of information as well as recurring market reports.

The RD will report to the partner in charge of the day-to-day operations of the Investments Group. Market research to be produced will include periodic (semi-annual typically) office, hotel, retail and residential market research (each separate) and reports for one-off projects. Recurring product-specific research will be done at the direction of the Investments Group product specialists as well as the heads of the group. While much of the research produced will be internal, various projects may include 3rd party consultants. Any such research, even if directed by a development project team will involve the RD in order to retain a central storehouse of all research-related information in house at JBG. Research and market “flash” updates will be regularly distributed to and presented to the Investment Committee and more broadly within the firm. The RD will work with the financial analysts to run analyses and for assistance in production, organization and presentation of the material.

Bachelor Degree required. The RD should have at least 4 years of experience in either research or industry analysis at an investment bank, an institutional sales and/or leasing firm or market research firm. The RD should be familiar with the investment process and be capable of analyzing (Excel) and presenting (Word, PowerPoint) information in a manner that is organized, concise and consistent with the objectives of an investment firm such as JBG.
