This key role requires someone whose passion for our educational mission will help us not only change education in Massachusetts but build a model for 21st century learning. Your talents will be relied upon to help us run all non-educational aspects of the school effectively and efficiently. In just two years, Acera has gone from an idea to a progressive elementary and middle school program. In 2012/2013 we will have 55 students and are growing, with an ambitious STEM, creativity and leadership emphasis for our students.Key Responsibilities:•Overseeing school operations including: site management, managing online school calendar and intranet, and organization of supplies, shared spaces and shared resources, proactively managing an organized, orderly, and well run site for our school•Administrative support for the Co-Directors, including master calendar, scheduling, appointments, tracking of prospective students and teacher hires and more as needs emerge•Assure that all school reception needs for phone, mail, day to day family communication about logistics, early pick up, etc.

are met•Bill payment / tracking: includes accounting / finance oversight, bank account management, bill paying, budget tracking, expense reimbursement, and payroll•Define and maintain process for proactive purchasing of school, classroom, curriculum, office and lab supplies•Support teacher and staff in their roles, as needed, proactively offering help •Assure compliance to all legal requirements (CORI checks, filing with Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education and school districts on attendance, environmental reporting requirements, fire and building inspections, etc.) •Assist with running and overseeing recess and lunch when/if needed on an ad hoc basis•Create and manage development / fundraising database. Track grant application timeline and submission deadlines.•Field trip reservations and coordination of transportation•Assist with the creation and updating of key school literature (e.g. Family and Employee Handbooks with school policies, online admissions form, assure accurate website content)•Assure accurate and timely family communication updates which include teacher classroom updates; project manage and publish twice monthly news postings for the school community•Be the point person to coordinate substitute teachers when needed•Coordinate a broad range of communications with the greater Acera Community – everything from announcing Snow Days to Information Sessions for Prospective Parents to Darwin Day •Address any health needs / issues of students if / when they emerge•Be a professional, welcoming ambassador of our school to key present and future constituents including prospective students, teachers, collaborators, vendors, and donorsAdditional roles / opportunities depending on your interest and skills:•Public relations and marketing planning and strategy including drafting press releases, copy, outreach and events to raise awareness about our program, social media content / presence•Support key collaborations with universities and academic institutions•Grant-writing•Website evolution and maintenance •IT Systems administration and/or technology “help desk” support for students and teachersSkills:•Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Really, we mean it - you will be communicating with children, parents, teachers, vendors, plumbers, MIT professors, and more!)•Mac proficiency•Excellent Microsoft Outlook / Calendar, Word, Excel, and Power-point skills•Ability to (and genuine affinity for) working with kids ranging in age from 6-14!
