Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Applies wide-ranging experience and extensive technical expertise to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Has full knowledge of other, related disciplines.
Performs work without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude, discretion, and independent judgment in determining technical objectives of assignments.
Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective. May operate as team lead.

Minimum 8 Years network engineering experience, to include design,
implementation and operation
Mastery of Multiple Vendor devices, specifically Cisco XR and Nexus
platforms, Brocade IP and SAN devices, as well as Juniper SA appliances
Current CCIE certification in either R&S or Data Center
Current Brocade BCE certification
Linux/Unix certification and requisite level knowledge, particularly Redhat
Experience with Cisco VSS and Brocade MCT solutions
Familiarity with Cisco Ironport Devices
Mastery of IPSec VPN design and implementation utilizing cisco ASA devices
BS in a related scientific field
