The Medical Assistant performs job functions in both the front office and nursing area of the clinic. They specialize in reviewing injury care charges and maintaining drug/alcohol testing program performed by the Occupational Health clinic. They remain flexible and proficient in all aspects of the clinic operation. Provides care for patients across the life span in a manner sensitive to social and cultural diversity. Collaborates with the registered nurse, patient, family/significant others and the healthcare team in providing care to the patient. Assists the registered nurse in providing nursing care supported by evidenced-based practice, professional standards and code of ethics.
High school graduate with formal training in Medical Assisting. Two to three years experience in a physician's office preferred
Maintain a current CPR certification
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and other staff members
Analytical ability to gather and interpret non-complex patient care assessments within limits of knowledge
