Performs a variety of clerical and public contact duties for the Aurora Center for Active Adults. 40 hours per week. This position includes paid holiday and a stipend for benefit coverage.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties may include but are not limited to: Strong customer service skills; cash handling experience; answers and directs questions and inquiries by telephone or in person; opening, sorting, distributing and routing incoming and outgoing mail; preparing and processing departmental documents; composing and typing routine correspondence; developing and maintaining a variety of filing and record keeping systems; preparing and typing a variety of materials including reports, statistical data, documents and manuals; serving as receptionist; responding to general inquiries; operating a variety of office equipment including personal computer and related software; receiving and processing payments; and performing additional duties as assigned.
Experience: At least 12 months of clerical training/experience or equivalent training and experience that will demonstrate required knowledge, abilities and skills. Experience working in a recreation environment with customer service preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge: Knowledge of business English, spelling and math; general office equipment; personal computers and related software applications including word and excel.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; alphabetize; spell; operate office equipment.
Skills: Requires skill in typing of 40 words per minute and skill in the use of personal computers.
Licenses, Certificates or Equipment Required: CRP/AED certified or able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date. This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Demands: Sedentary to light physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds; may require some lifting, carrying, walking and standing; some pushing, pulling and climbing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.
Work Environment: Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment.
Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including copy machine, computers and record processors; frequently answers telephone.
