The Registry RN II nurse reports directly to the Manager of Surgery Services and must be able to work in two of the following areas Main OR, Day Surgery, PACU, DDC, or Orthopedic outpatient surgery center. The Registry RN II nurse performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care for assigned patients on the unit during a shift. The Registry RN II nurse is responsible for managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment and for the promotion of collaboration with all members of the health care team. The Registry RN II nurse shall reflect the mission and philosophy of the Ascension Health System. The Registry RN II must be able to comply with and follow the job description of the surgical services RN. The Registry RN II nurse must attend all mandatory inservices and be responsible for following established organization and department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assessment. Must be able to be scheduled for a minimum of one 8 hour shift per month.
Graduate of approved School of Nursing
Registration, Certification, and/or Licensure Required:
Current licensure as a registered Nurse in the State of Indiana
CPR within 6 months of hire
ACLS within 1 year of hire
PALS within 2 years of hire
A minimum of one year recent Perioperative experience is required.
Prefer three years of experience in multiple Perioperative areas
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Human relation skills being able to handle patients and physicians with a high degree of courtesy, care, and tact.
Communicates well with the public, interdepartmental hospital personnel and co-workers.
Must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient.
Must possess the ability to assess patient data relative to age, specific needs, and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
Critical thinking and prioritization skills used in preparing for cases
Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment
Ability to perform in scrub assist role.
Ability to perform in first scrub role.
Computer skills with experience with Microsoft office.
May be exposed to infections from disease-bearing specimens
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
Handles emergency or crisis situations
Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
Handles absentee replacement on short notice
Occasional heavy physical effort lift/carry 50 pounds or more
Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
Frequently lifts supplies and equipment.
Prolonged computer keyboarding requirements.
Prolonged use of phone.
