Performs set-up and process adjustments on tools, dies, molds, presses, machines, fixtures and equipment to produce parts of the required quality. Inspects parts to blueprints and secures first-piece approval before running. Weighs, identifies, and transports parts and materials. Notifies supervisor when materials, parts, tools, and equipment are not functioning properly and not producing quality parts. Checks to ensure all safety devices are in place and properly operating. Maintains and lubricates presses, dies, molds, equipment, and related tooling. Obtains correct raw stock or parts from designated locations and places them into appropriate material handling equipment. Places materials, parts, tools, dies, molds, fixtures and equipment in proper locations.

  • Overall purpose of the position is to set-up and operate assigned equipment to produce parts within specified tolerances at the required production rate in the Molding Department.
  • Must achieve skill level and qualification to set up and operate various types of BMCI injection molds and phenolic presses (Bucher, Cincinnati and Krauss Maffei.)
  • Set-up operator has a broad set of job and performance responsibilities with the qualification and independence to operate efficiently and safely with minimal supervisory input. This includes being assigned 3-4 presses to operate on a daily basis and up to two (2) cleaning machines.
  • Entire press process is self-paced however production down-time is calculated and carefully monitored and compared to production target requirements.
  • Work performed on an alternating schedule of 36 hrs/wk or 48 hrs/wk per week; OT is available and is frequently assigned to meet plant production needs.
