Position Title: General Manager
The next generation of New York luxury hospitality has arrived with the announcement of Viceroy New York. Uniting the hottest names in hotel development, architecture, design and cuisine, Viceroy New York will become a haven for those travelers coming to the city seeking a new expression of individuality coupled with a new interpretation of modernity. Feeding off the vibrancy of the city that never sleeps, this newly built hotel will represent the zeitgeist of New York travel.
Viceroy New York will debut in one of the best locations in Manhattan; the fusion of business and leisure on West 57 th Street between 6 th and 7 th Avenues. The Roman and Williams-designed façade of the hotel stands apart from its traditional neighbors with a distinctive appearance that creatively blends classic modern elements with bold, traditional rhythms in a disciplined grid of black brick and steel. Currently in development by Ark Partners, this game-changing hotel will debut in September 2013.
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation, including financial performance, operational controls, ensuring optimal guest satisfaction scores, and developing and retaining management and hourly colleagues. The General Manager will build owner loyalty through proactive communication, setting and managing expectations and delivering solid business results.
General Responsibilities Include:
Coordination and leadership of the day-to-day operations of Human Resources, Rooms, Engineering, Sales and Finance departments.
Develop the overall hotel strategy to maximize guest satisfaction, service standards, colleague satisfaction and financial performance.
Promote efficient operating procedures to provide a flawless guest experience; actively engage with guests from arrival to departure.
Maintain a high level of service in all areas to our internal and external guests.
Directly supervise, develop, maintain and support individual performance and group dynamics of all executive committee members.
Resolve problems and communicate to ensure consistency and memorable guest service, and ensure strong, positive communication flow among and between colleagues and leadership.
Promote a positive work environment by ensuring the appropriate staffing levels are in place, the continuous training of colleagues, constant recognition, mentoring and coaching to existing colleagues.
Analyze daily revenues, sales strategy, labor reports, guest satisfaction reviews, and monthly expenses to ensure execution of business plan, profitability and focus and attention of management team.
Manage hotel budget to control expenses and increase revenue.
Develop and maintain strong relationships/public relations with neighbors, vendors, and hospitality competitors.
Ensure property compliance with legal, safety, operations, labor and Viceroy Hotel Group brand and service standards.
- Previous experience in the New York City market and union environment strongly preferred.
- Minimum five years experience as a General Manager with luxury experience, minimum ten years in luxury market.
- Previous experience working with third party ownership groups preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the international tour operator business.
- Pre-opening experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
