The Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation, a subsidiary of UIL Holdings Corporation, a natural gas delivery company that provides service to 165,000 customers in 22 towns in the greater Hartford and Greenwich, CT areas. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team in our Rocky Hill facility.

Under direction, plans, coordinates designs and/or implements projects at LNG plants. Provides economical solutions to reduce plant operating costs. May also be involved in various capital replacement and maintenance projects. May provide guidance to lower business level engineers and analysts. Direct contact with state and federal agencies, contractors, municipalities, etc. related to construction projects including new business, replacement, and/or maintenance projects. May be involved in the preparation of work drawings, material requisitions, and cost estimates for various types of projects including new business applications, mains, services, and meter sets. May design service and meter requirements to accommodate customer load. May be involved in the development and management of major programs or projects. Includes conducting team meetings, preparing budgets, authorizations, and managing expenditures. Prepares bid specifications, evaluates bid proposals, and manages contracts. May be involved in material and plant procedure evaluations, the development of material & design specifications, operational procedures and O&M updates. Calculate load and pressure drop to properly size gas piping system. Under supervision may assist Lead Engineers in more complex engineering projects.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience or Associate’s degree in an engineering discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have strong analytical and mechanical problem solving skills. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Must have the ability to read, understand, and modify P&ID diagrams in AutoCAD. Must be skilled in gas measurement & instrumentation specifications, operations, calibrations, and maintenance requirements.

Experience and/or training in piping design, metering, and regulating principles. Troubleshooting experience with electrical, mechanical and control systems. Experience and/or knowledge in construction, environmental, welding, and electrical codes. Experience in design, management, and construction of small to medium sized projects. Knowledge of gas system construction practices, underground pipe locating, and blue print reading. Knowledge of state and federal pipeline code regulations. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
