Minimum Requirement - Primary Education :
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Minimum Requirement - Primary Experience :
Must have three years of professional experience in the occupational safety and health field.
Education Substitution :
Graduate study in occupational safety and health, safety training or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements :
Must be certified as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
Post Employment Requirements :
Must maintain certification as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) for the length of employment in this classification.
Description of Job Duties
This position will provide professional safety consultative services on technical problems to employers throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This position will represent the division as a professional in the field of safety and conducts complex inspections and testifies at legal hearings; performs other duties as required.

Characteristics of the Class :
Provides professional industrial safety consultative services on technical problems to employers throughout the state; conducts conferences and seminars pertaining to complex subject matter in the field of industrial safety; OR provides technical support during compliance inspections across the state; provides testimony in support of citations during legal proceedings before the OSH Review Commission; and performs other duties as required.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Frequent travel will be required to conduct inspections. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, crawl and lift to conduct inspections. Incumbent must have ability to make oral presentations to groups. When conducting workplace inspections or consultations, employees in this class are exposed to the same working conditions as those employed at the workplace. This may include climbing excessive heights on construction sites, standing or walking for long periods of time and exposure to chemicals and potentially harmful or hazardous materials.
