The New Business Development Analyst will be responsible for initial assessment and analysis of external opportunities as assigned by the Director of New Business Development, including market assessments, competitive assessments, and review of new product licensing and acquisition opportunities. Additional responsibilities will include monitoring external opportunities, working with Business Development to assist as needed on deals and assisting with post-acquisition integration. Responsible for the management and maintenance of the Idea Generation (IG) Program, including managing the IG database, providing initial research on project ideas, creating new internal project controls, generating monthly reports, and managing communications with IG submitters (inventors, companies, surgeons).

Essential Job Functions:
Support New Business Development activities
Assist Directors of Business Development in assessing, acquiring and integrating acquisitions and technology licenses.
Assist Director of BD in tracking and analyzing BD activities. Develop metrics to track success.
Assist in division side of the Due Diligence process; includes conducting meetings, maintaining data room, issuing meeting notes, updates and summary reports.
Work with NBD Directors to drive project work on assessment and acquisition opportunities
Provide analysis of such issues as new market assessment, NBD target forecasting and filling the divisions pipeline
Build financial forecasts for assessments
Travel with the team to target meetings and present team findings during presentations
Read analyst reports, secondary research data and other sources to synthesize data, draw conclusions & write summary reports

Manage the Idea Generation Program including:
Lead and manage direction of the program
Maintain internal databases (Excel and Access)
Conduct initial review process and data maintenance
Maintain ongoing communications and follow-up processes
Provide monthly reports

Special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of two years in a business position with a bachelor’s degree, zero years of experience acceptable with an MBA
  • Previous experience conducting in-depth business /company profiling and analysis
  • Must possess the ability to synthesize data and articulate findings through excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Access; database management experience
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in Life sciences a plus. MBA is preferred.
Scientific and/or healthcare experience a plus
Prior experience in business analyst position or in forecasting and valuation a plus
Experience with contracts, confidentiality agreements or other legal experience a plus
