Senior Research Chemist - Formulation

The Sr. Research Chemist we are seeking will possess a passion for conducting laboratory research in the fields of materials science, nanotechnology, and/or polymer science. In this role, you will lead the development of new ink formulations including optimization to improve performance, processibility, and cost. Responsibilities will include testing and characterization of new ink sets using standardized and advanced techniques. This position will also play a critical role in the scale up of ink formulations from lab scale through to initial production scale manufacturing.

Responsibilities:
We will rely on you to perform hands-on research and experimental work including, but not limited to:

Perform wet bench chemistry formulation Formulate inks/pastes with precise mixing and dilution Operate a variety of lab scale mixing and blending equipment Analyze samples via microscopy (optical, AFM, SEM, TEM, etc.) Coat experimental inks and characterize the film properties Develop and manage execution of technical development plans in cooperation with other team leaders and management Prepare written and verbal presentations of work for review Support continuous improvement initiatives as required Communicate results to the team and participate in DOE and trouble-shooting sessions Evaluate findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, processes and applications of findings to new uses Prepare technical reports for use by engineering or management personnel for long- and short-range planning

Qualifications:
Masters of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material science; PhD preferred Experience in hands-on chemistry, physics, ink formulations, nano materials dispersion, and/or coating in the laboratory environment (10+ years with Masters Degree or 5+ years with PhD), including at least 3 years experience in chemical or related industry Experience in development from concept to volume manufacturing introduction with high process capability Strong mathematical, statistical, data analysis, and problem solving skills required Rapid learner, self-motivated, and creative problem solver who thrives in fast-paced, startup environment Good organizational and communication skills: able to record data, label samples and record observations meticulously and clearly Must be able to work both independently and as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment Experience in the field of printed or flexible electronics, is a plus Experience with data analysis software such as Jump is a plus
