This role is a key contributor of the benefits team who will take direct accountability for the Benefits Administration team, Retirement Plan team or Health and Welfare team outcomes and results, utilizing expertise in benefits operations disciplines. This is a first level of supervision where the incumbent has administrative responsibility for 3-6 direct reports, makes work assignments, reviews work in progress, handles personnel action including performance reviews and salary recommendations, and coordinates training and development of staff. The role is the main point of contact and is accountable for issues escalated to the Benefits Administration team, Retirement Plan team or Health and Welfare team and ensuring prompt and accurate resolution. Responsible for team metrics and quality assurance.
This position will partner with other NAHRSS teams, Supervisors and Managers, as well as BU HR teams to ensure consistent delivery of services and ensuring alignment within NAHRSS.
Analyzes, researches and responds to escalated Benefits issues.
Responsible for providing Benefits education thru presentations as requested.
Responsible for Summary Pan Description (SPD) review for multiple benefit plans.
Provides input on benefit design changes.
Provides system testing support for Health & Welfare related system issues.
25% - Acts as SME on projects as needed; performs system testing; identifies and implements operational efficiencies; initial contact for team and resolves third level escalations.
25% - Accountable for working with appropriate NAHRSS and BU partners to ensure deliverables are planned and executed;
manage and update team metrics; performs quality assurance review of team’s work product; provides recommendations to supervisor on issues requiring management approval.
25% - Engages with team to supervise and provide work direction and ensure alignment and strong teaming; reviews work in progress; team decision maker; coach and develop team members; researches and makes sound decisions without supervisor involvement; perform resource forecasting and assignments; handles personnel action including performance reviews and salary recommendations, and coordinates training, development and engagement of staff.
25% - Monitors the day-to-day output of the team through the use of established performance measures.
Performs root-cause analysis of escalated employee issues, identifies trends, and makes recommendations and sound decisions regarding resolution.
Communicate issues appropriately with proper internal and external partners.
College Degree or minimum 6 years experience in a benefits role
Strong and proven process-focused analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong and proven customer relationship building, team leadership and collaboration skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to partner with and effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully manage competing priorities
Proficiency with MS Excel and Word
Minimum of 1 years of related experience (retirement, health and welfare and/or PeopleSoft)
CEBS or CBP certification
Continuous Improvement experience
