This position reports to the Analog Standard Products Operation Product Definition and Applications Manager. The Standard Products Operations provides highly integrated and precision products for power management, battery control and monitoring, signal conditioning, and load control. We serve multiple markets including consumer, industrial, and automotive.
The Analog Prodcut Definer will:
Work with customers, field sales team, FAEs, applications engineers, design engineers and the product line manager to identify, specify and propose new products for the business unit.
Create the Use Case & Product Requirement Documents by collecting the specific needs of customers, aligning to the accepted strategies defined by marketing, and collaborating with the internal technology, design, process, and test engineers to optimize costs with functional and parametric performance criteria.
Negotiate the Product Specification details with the customer, documenting the linkage between performance criteria, verification methods, and results via the Traceability Matrix.
Assist product marketing with deriving and validating value propositions and competitive analysis, as well as forward looking roadmap planning to suit market windows.
Define customer support collateral needs for the application engineers, documenting attributes of hardware, PC-based GUI, and system-level interfaces.
Contribute to the overall corporate and divisional goals of minimizing costs, contributing to the intellectual property bank, quality and reliability improvement, and customer goodwill.
This is a high visibility, high impact position. It requires a high degree of competence in analog circuit design and how system level requirements translate into IC specifications.
Excellent communication skills are essential with the ability to fluently discuss technical details with customer hardware engineers and internal IC designers as well as propose new products to senior management .
Understanding competitiors products and solutions and ongoing market evolution is also required. Significant travel to customers around the world is required.
BS in electrical or computer engineering or technology; MS preferred.
15 years experience as an analog product definer
Recognized senior member of technical staff, equivalent semiconductor expertise, or equivalent
Experience in related fields such as automotive, industrial, consumer or medical electronic control unit development
Proficiency with defining semiconductor products including performance details such as signal conditioning, offset and linearity correction, noise and overload tolerances, stability, filter, power consumption, and environmental robustness attributes.
Proficiency with system-level interfacing, power supplies and power mode controls, wire-line data interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and wireless data interfaces such as Zigbee, Bluetooth, etc.
Proficiency with written and verbal communication skills, having been effective in assignments that cross territorial and cultural boundaries.
Experience with behavioral modeling techniques, including the definition of closed- and open-loop signal processing, and translation into human- & machine-readable formats.
Experience with EMC/EMI mitigation techniques, operation of typical lab equipment such as oscilloscope, data logger, signal generator, etc.
Experience with process and documentation requirements of AEC-Q100 qualification and ISO-26262 / IEC-61508 functional safety standards.
Familiarity with CAE tools to capture PCB designs, create and release artwork, parts procurement, and initial sample assembly.
Familiarity with firmware development for embedded microcontroller systems, including adherence to software development coding standards, archive, and version controls.
Ability to solve problems with minimal direction, relying on internal
external network of potential advisors, mentors, or senior engineers.
