CNG Chief Architect
Lead the Intel's Connectivity & Networking Group Architecture team for the Datacenter and Connected Systems Group.
The mandate of the new Director is to leverage his/her experience in Cloud architectures and shape future Cloud architectures that optimize across entire solutions spanning compute, network and storage. The Director leads a small team (4 people) of professional engineers which collaborate extensively with other groups across Intel. This is a unique opportunity for an individual to shape Cloud Ethernet for the Intel Architecture scale out, rack-scale and micro-server platforms while working with industry leading customers/partners to accomplishing this.
Key responsibilities include defining and delivering the networking architecture vision and implementation plan for Intel's data center silicon and software offerings. This involves extensive internal and external collaboration. There will be substantial work with cloud customers, service provider and OEMs to identify problems and collaborate with them to provide full solution stacks. Internally there will be work with Intel's CPU teams along with Intel's Cloud, Storage, HPC and Comms Infrastructure teams. Successfully driving and delivering standards where necessary will also be required by the team.
Design and Implementation of multiple generations of System & Solution Architectures for Distributed Systems, Warehouse Scale Computing (WSC) e.g.
-- Crawling, indexing, querying systems
-- Large scale data processing systems e.g. Map Reduce, Hadoop & their management
-- *aaS (e.g. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS))
-- Differentiating system level networking that implements the above for Microservers, Rack Scale Systems, Scaled out server clusters
Prior experience with scaling NIC and switch architectures for cloud networking is a plus.
Design/Implementation of Network/Fabric virtualization and Server virtualization
Design / Implementation of Storage and Networking Protocols, System / OS / Platform design for cloud networking
- Software Defined Networking, Overlay networks & management e.g. VxLAN (Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network), NVGRE, OTV (Overlay Transport Virtualization)
- E.g., Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Google File System (GFS), Network File System (NFS), Simple Storage Service (S3), Protocol Buffers,
