This position is located in the Division of Information Security and Systems Assurance, within the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO develops, coordinates, and maintains Commission-wide strategic and business information technology (IT) plans, develops the IT enterprise architecture, and ensures that all IT initiatives support all aspects of the Commission business plan and are compliant with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directives.

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Information Security and Systems Assurance Division, your duties will include the following:
Provides support to team members in carrying out the Commission's information security program.
Plan, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance programs, policy, and procedures to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks and information.
Maintain a process for planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting an Agency-wide wide security architecture that ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance/privacy policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services.
Works with other IT specialists and experts throughout the Commission and its Offices on a variety of situations and issues that involve applying or adapting new security technology theories, concepts, applications, standards, and/or practices.
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent at least to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: e xperience performing technical assessments, involvement in engineering and integration initiatives, and providing knowledge to assess security policies, standards and guidelines. In addition, the experience reflected in your resume must indicate knowledge of FISMA.

Education can be substituted for experience. To be eligible for the GS-9, you must show possession of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. The degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
