Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Member Relationships is responsible for the overall development and management of the Center’s member services. S/he is responsible for the administration of all strategies to achieve member relationship development, marketing, membership sales and retention, corporate membership leads and fund raising dollars, focusing specifically on increasing member participation in Annual Giving campaign.

Required Skills
Minimum 18 years of age •
Four-year college degree or comparable YMCA experience required •
YMCA experience in membership and face to face fund raising experience is preferred

Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet & Praesidium Child Abuse Detection / Prevention training •
Before start of 1st shift: CEO parts 1 and 2, First Aid, BBP, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED & Emergency Oxygen •
Within 30 days of hire: Unity training •
Within 60 days of hire: Payroll training •
Within 120 days of hire: Healthy Lifestyle Principles

This position requires an individual with an enthusiastic personality who can develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, volunteers, and community leaders. S/he must present a professional image and have excellent written, oral and presentation skills. S/he must be highly organized, possess superior supervisory skills, conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative and independent thinking. S/he must demonstrate a proven ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers and staff. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, required.

Responsibilities •
Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility •

Represent the YMCA and maintain appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders, and businesses •

Prepare and implement a campaign plan for a successful Center membership / community Annual Giving campaign consistent with annual fund raising best practices and Association guidelines. This includes calendar, goal setting, organizational charts, thank you plan, volunteer recruitment, donor cultivation/awareness tours, key indices, and benchmarks along the way •

Prepare and implement a campaign plan for a successful Annual Giving campaign for Center employees •

Oversee volunteer development, training, solicitation of donors, and coordination of staff roles in Center •

Develop and implement an annual membership sales/retention plan and other direct marketing promotions within the Center and the community •

Implement and monitor the financial assistance policy within the Center •

Hire, develop and supervise membership services staff; develop and implement staff recognition and incentive program •

Possess an active understanding of Wellness and be able to coach our “Health Seeker” members; ensure membership services staff are trained to coach our “Health Seeker” members and knowledgeable of Wellness programs •

Work with Corporate Membership office to develop leads for corporate memberships •

Develop, implement, and manage budgets and all revenue projections within assigned departments •

Maintain adequate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas •

Serve as staff liaison to the Christian Emphasis Committee and Association Membership Cabinet •

Produce On Hold Message Tapes, center’s newsletters, and other direct marketing promotions •

Develop and oversee the Silver Sneakers and seniors programs and activities
