1. Performs all of the ophthalmic technical support services of the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and Certified Ophthalmic Technician.
2.In addition to the above skills they should possesses knowledge of Fundus photography, Fluorescein angiography, Advanced color vision testing, Advanced ocular motility, Advanced Tonometry, Advanced Visual Fields, Advanced Clinical optics and Retinoscopy, Advanced Pharmacology (including the identification and proper use and installation of diagnostic medications), Microbiology.
3.Trains and mentors other staff in any clinical skills necessary to work up patients including the use of manual/automated, photographic and other testing equipment.

Ability to physically assist patients from wheelchairs into exam chairs
Ability to assist the visually impaired.

Current JCAHPO Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist and completion of a four year college degree in Ophthalmic Technology, with at least 3years of satisfactory full time work experience in a busy ophthalmology practice under ophthalmological supervision.
