The Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing Claremont McKenna College publications, marketing and collateral materials from concept through production, both in print and online. In consultation with coworkers, clients and printers/publishers, (s)he will manage individual projects, maintain compliance with editorial and graphic standards and provide visual consultation, direction and assistance.

The Graphic Designer will ensure that all of CMC’s marketing and messaging efforts are at a professional level of quality and convey the College’s brand and visual identity. (S)he will work collaboratively to support a creative environment and foster innovative designs, and be active in the entire development process from idealization to implementation. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment under tight resources and schedules. This position reports to the Director of Creative Services.

This position requires expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and exceptional graphic design skills and the ability to rapidly master changing technologies with the expectation that training in new software and/or technologies will be provided. Should also be able to work in HTML, Dreamweaver, Excel, Powerpoint and Word; familiarity with Final Cut Studio or Vegas Pro editing software preferred. Bachelor’s degree in design, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required. Minimum of six to eight years of design experience required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide the required documentation for proof of insurability with the College’s insurance carrier. Final candidate must successfully complete a consumer background investigation.

The regular hours for this position are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Hours may vary due to needs of the College or department.

This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month, benefits-eligible position.
