General Description: Under general supervision, performs a variety of neurodiagnostic and electroencephalographic procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of nerve and brain disorders.Essential Function/Duties: Will perform nerve conduction studies. These studies may be performed in a laboratory setting, at the bedside or in the operating room. Responsible for preparing the patient for the procedure and explaining the procedure. Will obtain a brief history and identify nerves and muscles involved in the test.

Will attach the electrodes and assist the neurologist by operating the equipment and recording results. Will perform electroencephalographic (EEG) studies. Responsible for preparing patient for the procedure and explaining the procedure. Responsible for setting, adjusting and operating the equipment during procedure.

Will study and analyze the wave graph, making notations to indicate any disorder or artifact. Responsible for ordering necessary supplies. Maintain files on EMG and EEG procedures. Will serve as an educational source for new employees and medical students.Minimum Qualifications:*Experience: One (1) year of experience as an Electroencephalographic Technician OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education would be considered as the successful completion of a recognized course of instruction OR a period of training under a trained technician and neurosurgeon.Note: May be underfilled as Electroneurodiagnostic Technician I - Minimum Qualifications: Six (6) months of experience in direct patient care OR an equivalent combination of education and experience OR Care Team Associate - Minimum Qualifications: Six- (6) months experience in a healthcare setting OR completion of a health related vocational education course of at least 3 months; OR completion of the first semester of clinical education in an associate or bachelor's degree program for a health care discipline.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of electronics and maintenance of testing equipment. Knowledge of physiology is required for the proper placement of electrodes. Good verbal and written communication skills that allow the relaying of information in a clear, concise and calm manner. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the staff and physicians.

Basic knowledge of computers.Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):Position requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting and carrying objects, pushing and pulling equipment, use of back muscles with some bending and stooping. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and some chemical agents.
