Purpose: To assist NBC Manager to merchandise products and supervise department staff to meet objectives for sales, margin, inventory turns, labor and customer service.
Status: Reports to NBC Manager
Supervises NBC Staff in Manger’s absence
Pay Level V
A. Place orders with established suppliers to maintain appropriate stock level and inventory turns.
B. Assist Manager to ensure accurate, up-to-date shelf tags, sale signage and price labeling of dept. items.
C. Assist Manager to receive orders or ensure receiving by dept staff, following established procedures.
A. Stock department area (shelves, bins, coolers), rotating to ensure freshness following priorities set by NBC Manager.
B. Ensure that displays are attractive, fully stocked and neatly organized.
C. Provide product information to customers.
D. Assist customers with product questions and special orders. Offer samples and suggestions for purchase and preparation. Train others in the department to do so as well.
E. Provide direction to department staff in stocking and maintaining department in NBC Manager’s absence.
F. Ensure accurate signage is in place. Change signs on the first day of a sale before the store opens in NBC Manager’s absence.
G. Post “Temporarily Out of Stock” and “Manufactures Out of Stock” signs promptly.
H. Troubleshoot department problems in absence of manager.
III. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
A. Maintain department area, bins and shelves in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
B. Participate in quarterly inventory counts & oversee inventory crew in NBC Manager’s absence.
C. Get credit from suppliers where applicable for returned or low-quality product.
D. Maintain department equipment in working order. Advise store manager of equipment repair or replacement needs.
IV. CUSTOMER SERVICE
A. Assist Customers with special order requests in prompt, friendly, courteous manner and follow through until customer receives the product or order is canceled.
B. Report customer suggestions, comments and complaints to NBC Manager.
C. Spend as much time as possible in department to assist customers and deter theft.
D. Stock and maintain displays fully to give feeling of abundance.
E. Assist customers in finding and/or using reference materials and product samples.
F. Follow security procedures. Alert MOD or Security to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers and other emergencies.
V. PERSONNEL - - for Nutrition & Body Care Department Staff
A. Ensure on-the-job training as assigned by department manager.
B. In absence of manager, ensure coverage of shifts and do scheduling within payroll allocation.
C. Set work priorities for NBC staff in absence of manager.
VI. Perform other tasks assigned by NBC Manager.
Attend, plan and/or participate in store/department meetings and trainings.
