Unix System Administrator - 1072886 Description
      Job Description:

      Responsible for installing and maintaining UNIX and Linux servers both physical and virtual in support of established business requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to Unix and Linux operation systems and layered software packages. Maintains the Unix and Linux platforms and layered software packages in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Monitors and tunes the systems to achieve optimum level of performance. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of the Unix servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines.

      Duties:
      ·
      Building and provisioning Unix and Linux platform servers.
      ·
      Administration of Solaris (8, 9, 10), Red Hat 5.x, Suse servers and HP-UX. This includes monitoring, patching, trouble shooting, Break/Fix, Analysis and recovery.
      ·
      Identify storage needs and provision as needed.
      ·
      Install, configure, monitoring and confirm the backup process for all Unix and Linux servers.
      ·
      Creating and maintaining documentation of all Unix and Linux platforms.
      Qualifications
      Required Skills:
      Technical
      ·
      Knowledge of Solaris (8,9,10) Linux (RHEL5.x), HP-UX, Weblogic, Apache, SunOne.
      ·
      Strong Troubleshooting skills (top, iostat, sar).
      ·
      LDAP, DNS, NIS, Automount, NFS, Sendmail.
      ·
      Management of Solaris and Linux in VMWare infrastructure.
      ·
      Shell scripting.
      ·
      Knowledge of Clustering (H/A) methodologies and concepts.
      ·
      Knowledge of EMC Storage (Celerra, Clariion, VNX).
      ·
      Knowledge of Brocade switches.
      ·
      Knowledge of Networking concepts (Troubleshooting, IP Stack, OSI Model).

      Ability to demonstrate initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies.
      ·
      Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical people.
      ·
      Project and task oriented, following established processes and procedures.

      Desired competencies:

      B.S. in Computer Science or related field or equivalent field experience

      At least 5 years of Unix systems administration.
