This Senior Systems Administrator role provides comprehensive and proactive support for the Unix/Linux based operating environment supporting the Equities (AES), Global Arbitrage, and other businesses. This includes day to day support, project implementation and proactive maintenance of the Linux based systems that support proprietary, high frequency, and low latency trading environments. Provide a low latency environment that meets the needs of highly critical and time sensitive US Equities Markets businesses operating in a 24x7 environment and located in multiple Colocation Sites supporting over 1000+ servers.
The Role Involves:
Interfacing with Business Units and infrastructure team on Linux build equipment and facilitating the delivery of build services from Unix Engineering and providing QA prior to production rollout.
Provide day to day management in the optimization, efficiency and capacity planning of low latency hardware ensuring on-going compliance with the security baseline and IT infrastructure.
Install and maintain the operating system and related software products. This includes performing required upgrades to ensure operating system currency, improving monitoring capabilities and eliminating legacy infrastructure.
Design tools and procedures to automate and enhance functionality of the installed system software and improve productivity within the group;
Provide diagnostic support and act as interface to vendors for all failing components within the system;
Evaluate and recommend hardware and software to end users;
OS and patch upgrades and Kernel configuration, tuning and optimization.
Manage technical projects that support key initiatives within the firm.
Providing day to day technical and developer support for the user base.
Design and implement technical solutions that ensure control, manageability and integrity of the environment to maximize service availability to users.

To Qualify, You Must Possess:
5+ years of Systems Administration experience in Solaris and Linux (SUSE 10/11 and Red Hat 5/6)
5+ years of Performance analysis/tuning and troubleshooting
5+ years of systems related software (VxVM, VCS, NIS, DNS, NFS, LDAP)
3+ years of SAN technology and its impact on the server environment
3+ years of shell scripting (PERL a plus)
Working knowledge of Market Data Networking, Multicast
