The Department of Residential Community Life at SUNY Oneonta invites applications for the position of Residence Hall Director to begin August 2013. This is a ten month appointment. Expectations include coordination of a living/learning community for a coeducational residence hall of over two hundred residents, facility management/building administration, and educational programming. The Department of Residential Community Life strives to develop a sense of belonging and respect within our residential communities by providing opportunities and experiences for learning outside of the classroom. Duties include but not limited to: living and working in the residence hall; facilitation of positive community building; infusion of diversity and inclusion initiatives within programming and residence hall culture; student staff supervision, training and evaluation; personal and group advisement; hearing adjudication; updating and maintaining collegiate databases; department committee involvement; and some evening and weekend responsibilities are required.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree by time of appointment; residence life experience; demonstrated excellence in written communication and presentation skills.
Preferred: Master's degree in Student Development or related field; experience with judicial hearings; facility management; personal counseling; student-staff supervision; programming; demonstrated collegiate database skills; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
