Needed: An energetic, technology-loving ”product person” who lives at the “fuzzy front end” of product development, driving innovation to deliver growth for Bose at the intersection of new business opportunities for us and greater value for our customers.
For nearly 50 years, Bose has developed high-quality audio solutions that delight our customers by differentiating in the marketplace. Our Home Entertainment Division (HED) leads the Home Audio market with many product lines, including Companion® computer speakers, SoundDock® digital music systems, Lifestyle® Home Theater, Wave® music systems, VideoWave® entertainment systems, and SoundLink® Wireless Mobile Speaker System. But, we don’t want to stop there – we are constantly looking for new ways to grow and provide value to our customers.
HED’s New Product Planning team is responsible for technology and market assessment and drives long-range planning for the company’s largest product division. The new Emerging Categories team in NPP is responsible for identifying new-to-Bose businesses that can ultimately drive new growth into the Home Entertainment Division. You will research emerging technologies and market trends to drive recommendations for new business categories to be invested in by the division. You will become the expert on various new technologies, new markets, competitive threats, and opportunities – developing compelling whitepapers and briefs as output. You are able to ply a combination of market data, consumer data, in-depth analysis and synthesis, and your own good instincts to make solid recommendations to stakeholders. You will also participate in the development of category strategy and drive long-range product plans for an entire product category.
You will work collaboratively with your colleagues in product marketing, market and consumer research, and engineering advanced development to incubate new business opportunities and prototype new product concepts. You will help to lead our efforts to discover and cultivate the intersection of business opportunity, new technologies and customer needs, helping drive what the division does next.
The New Product and Technology Strategist, HED New Product Planning – Emerging Categories is a high-energy person that uses superb communications skills to work equally well with non-technical marketing/sales staff, engineers, and executives. In the past, you may have had experience in product management, strategy, consulting, market research, engineering, or software development. Ideally, you will have had experience in several of those disciplines. Key to your success is your ability to marry creativity (seeing new questions, and imagining new answers) with analytic skills (digging deeply to create clarity from ambiguity). Your best allies will be your abundant self-motivation, creativity, intellectual curiosity, capacity to juggle conflicting priorities, and ability to see clearly in the midst of uncertainty.
