The Senior Credit Review Analyst is responsible for the independent evaluation of credit portfolios and credit risk management practices throughout the enterprise. Through the comprehensive analysis of highly complex individual credit transactions and business unit portfolios, this position evaluates loan quality and the effectiveness of credit risk management practices, identifies potential weaknesses and emerging trends, and incorporates findings and recommendations into written reports which are ultimately distributed to executive management and external regulatory bodies. The Senior Credit Review Manager is able to lead the most complex reviews with minimal management oversight, escalates risk concerns and issues as appropriate and ensures the lending area’s timely response and remediation. This position(is expected to assist) works with the Credit Review Business Unit Director in identifying strategic improvements and systemic emerging risks that bear monitoring, and is capable of fulfilling management responsibilities as necessary.
Description of Function:
Execute the Credit Review business plan by undertaking a comprehensive analysis of highly complex transactions/relationships/portfolios and applying expert judgment to formulate recommendations and assess
Loan structure, quality and accuracy of underwriting, identification of key risks, and overall evaluation of the ultimate support of the credit decision rendered;
Accuracy of assigned risk ratings and proper model usage;
Compliance with established credit policies;
Evaluation of credit risk management practices
Lead a variety of highly complex portfolio reviews:
Confirm and finalize all recommendations and findings of the Credit Review Managers resulting from transactional/relationship/portfolio analyses;
Ensure all issues are fully vetted with line of business to ensure findings are factually accurate
Utilize influencing skills to resolve issues and agree to solutions prior to finalization of exam reports;
Ensure that business line responses are actionable and appropriate;
By applying expert judgment, evaluate management oversight process, assign overall credit management and asset quality ratings, and formulate recommendations to proactively reduce credit risk and potential losses.
Coordinate the individual files to be reviewed by Credit Review Managers, prioritize work-load and ensure report deadlines are met.
Communication of review findings, with routine interaction with commercial relationship managers/consumer risk managers and front line management, along with moderate level of interaction with business line divisional management.
Act as a resource to the business line, other risk functions, and more junior Credit Review staff through:
Active participation in various forums including watched asset meetings, charge-off review meetings and various portfolio review meetings
Individual transactional rating and/or policy questions from relationship managers and credit officers
Providing detailed training to business line and other credit functions
Training and mentoring of more junior Credit Review staff
Corporate wide within assigned credit risk discipline (e.g. Consumer Finance, Commercial Real Estate, C&I). Exam findings and recommendations made by the Credit Review Senior Risk Manager are distributed to Executive Management, Audit Committee and regulatory bodies.
The Senior Credit Review Manager is expected to analyze the most complex portfolios / transactions / relationships / structures, lead a variety of complex reviews, evaluate asset quality and credit risk management processes and make recommendations to reduce overall risk to the organization. Duties are expected to be completed with minimal level of oversight from Credit Review management. The Senior Credit Review Manager works with the Credit Review Business Unit Director with identifying strategic improvements and systemic emerging risks that bear monitoring.
This function is a key contributor to the overall Credit Review process and provides independent risk identification, assessment and mitigation recommendations.
Credit Review reporting processes identifies risk and recommends improvements to key credit risk processes. It fulfills many regulatory requirements and helps ensure compliance with the Group Policy Framework. Helps minimize future credit losses by identifying systemic weaknesses and adverse activity. Through validation of rating integrity helps ensure that the loan loss allocations are accurate and appropriate.
Bachelor Degree required
Master’s Degree preferred
Other Education or Training required: Successful completion of formal credit training program
Advanced analytical, loan structuring, underwriting, credit, and administrative skills
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong negotiation skills with ability to defend position in collaborative manner
Self-motivated, ability to work independently in a geographically dispersed environment
Proven ability to work in a team environment, lead others, and appropriately prioritize workload
Must have a minimum of 7 years prior work experience in a relevant credit risk discipline
Minimum of five years of direct Credit Review Experience

Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
