Job Title: Buyer – Machined Components
Job Description :
The employee will perform a full range of professional buyer assignments in a full functioning capacity. The employee will be required to make independent data driven decisions on assigned projects that have significant impact on the entire business. Guidelines may be available, but the employee will be required to adapt and interpret the appropriate course of action.
Develop annual business plans including tactical plan s , material forecasts, projected volumes, pric e evolution...
Monitor and improve the overall performance of the suppliers including Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Research and understand market trends, create a benchmark on assigned commodities.
Develop “Should Be Cost” of components within the assigned commodity. This involves a thorough understanding of component cost drivers, commodity market intelligence (related to labo r costs, material costs, etc.…)
Develop a 3 to 5 year commodity strategy including evaluation of market trends, technology trends, projected company requirements, etc
Supply chain improvement
Lead purchasing projects that impact multiple JTEKT Facilities.
Identify cost reduction activities from the beginning of the product design stage , through the production life of the product.
Support the Supplier Advancement Engineer in VA/VE and Kaizen supplier workshops by defining cost reduction targets and negotiating cost sharing rules with suppliers.
New product development
Create, issue, and evaluate Supplier Request for Q uotation (RFQ) packages.
Create Make – vs - Buy analysis, and understand the impact of technology on the product .
Generate Supplier Process maps at time of quotation, monitor capacity availability.
Develop new supply chains that will support North American growth initiatives for existing and new product lines.
D raft, negotiate, and implement supply agreements .
Facilitate relationship s between suppliers and Koyo /JTEKT application and design department s to support new product developments and new product safe launches .
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to manage project(s).
Ability to read drawings.
Travel to suppliers and JTEKT facilities
Ability to identify and resolve complex procurement related issues.
Ability to understand and anticipate technical issues in order to interface internally within JTEKT/Koyo and with suppliers to implement corrective actions at the earliest possible stage.
Ability to function successfully with considerable latitude and require technical guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues.
Ability to work in a participative management environment and maintain a drive for accomplishment of responsibilities.
Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word , Powerpoint .
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree - Engineering or Business.
2 to 5+ years Purchasing Experience
